Project Overview

The Terminal Modernization Program at Pittsburgh International Airport is a major infrastructure project designed to create a more efficient and passenger-friendly airport experience. The new terminal will bring airline operations, security, and passenger services into a modern facility designed to support growing travel demand.

The 811,000-square-foot development includes updated passenger areas, improved security checkpoints, and modern infrastructure that supports advanced airport operations.

What the Electrical Work Supported

Electrical contractor Gumpher Electric, working under Lighthouse Electric, installed critical infrastructure that supports the terminal’s communication and safety systems.

This work includes raceways and pathways for telecommunications, security systems, paging systems, fire alarm systems, and distributed antenna systems (DAS). These systems enable the airport’s communication networks, safety monitoring, and connectivity throughout the terminal.

Community Impact

Pittsburgh International Airport is a vital transportation hub for the region. The new terminal modernization improves passenger experience, enhances airport operations, and prepares the airport to support future travel and economic growth.

Infrastructure projects like this rely on skilled electricians to install the systems that keep airports safe, connected, and operational.

Cool Fact

The new terminal’s communications and safety systems rely on miles of electrical raceways that allow advanced technology systems to operate throughout the facility.
